Domestic Violence

This page provides an introduction to domestic violence reduction information. Domestic violence is greatly under-reported and research suggests that as little as 25% of all domestic violence cases reach the attention of the UK police.

There needs to be a robust and developing growth in reporting of the crimes (not just assaults but other types of crime which can be classified as being motivated by domestic violence) and there needs to be a solid local foundation for the support of those experiencing domestic violence and their dependents.

When developing projects and setting targets for domestic violence reduction CDRP's should prepare for an increase in domestic violence (and similarly Hate Crime numbers). A useful common target for 'decrease' is a decrease in repeat victimisation.
